Meet the Artisan Soapmaker
The passionate driving force behind Melodramatic Soaps and the accompanying dramas is me, Maggie.
I am the mother of three boys. Since becoming a mom, I have become more conscious about everything that goes in and on my body and my children's. Turning toward more homemade options for food, soaps, and cleaners; I realized that there is a growing concern about our daily products. Thus the soap portion of my small business was born.
As a creative soul, though not artistically inclined, I love writing and creating things. Previously, I had owned and operated a craft store. Learning new crafts, starting new projects, and teaching others how to create are some of my all time favorite things.

Handmade soap is not so rare these days and one can easily find it online. However, there are not a lot of options to completely choose what goes into your soap. Before anyone reacts, I know that there are plenty of places that sell soap and you can request some specific or have a few different scent options. The point of my site of to take it a few steps further.
The other part of my small business are the dramas. I have loved writing from early age. Cozy mysteries are my go-to for reading. Enjoy a new short story addition to the ongoing small town drama each month. The short story will feature that month's speciality soap. Both the stories, the monthly speciality soaps, and the customizations will be available this fall. For those that are interested in how the customization works, keep reading.
The customization process is pretty straight forward.
Step 1 : Choose your soap base.
This first step determines the main characteristics of your soap. The base is what is mixed with the lye slurry to create soap. The lye slurry is lye and water. This step is the only that is not optional, a base must be chosen.
Step 2 : Additional Moisturizers
This next step is completely optional. These are the same options used for the base. If you wanted a Coconut Oil and Shea Butter bar, this would be where you would add the second oil. If you wanted a single oil bar, you would have the option for that as well.
Step 3 : Extras
Adding anything extra, like charcoal or colloidal oatmeal, are completely optional as well and be bypassed.
FINAL STEP : Scent and Color
Listing different the different colors, essential oils, and fragrance oils I have available. You can choose different combination to match your preference. Included among the options is no colorant and unscented.
With this format, I do not make the soap until it is ordered. You have the ability to go as natural with your soap as you wish. All the choices you make with customizing your soap are the only ones on the ingredient list. On top of that, you are supporting small business.
